Jaane Kyun is Vishal Shekhar at their best, hippish sounds and live beats to keep the rhythm in place.
Desi Girl seems to be a Shankar-Ehsaan - Loy ripoff in terms of tune and arrangements but it passes muster thanks to Mahadevan. Ma da makes you think it's Kailash Kher behind the mike but it's Saleem doing all the work. A catchy song that requires repeat value.
Shut up and Bounce is the typical Karan Johar item song, which has vulgar-isms all over it. Just think for a minute, "Shut up and Bounce".
Only reliefs in the album come to Shaan's beautiful "Kuch Kum and "Khabhar Nahi". Overall, Dostana has 4 good numbers (Jaane Kyun, Kuch Kum, Khabhar Nahi and Ma Da) but the rest disappoint. Vishal-Shekhar have become underhyped to overhyped.
